STORY
Osthi Velan (Simbu STR) is a corrupt cop who fears for nothing. He has real motives for all his actions. He robs from rich and pays the poor. He has a half-brother Balan (Githan Ramesh). Osthi Velan’s life has an affectionate mother (Revathy), a funny cop Selvam(Santhanam) around him. Velan falls in love with Neduvali (Richa Gangopadhyaya), daughter of a drunkard (VTV Ganesh). They get attracted to each other.
Osthi Velan has clashes with villain, Boxer Daniel (Sonu Sood). Both cross swords with each other. After some dance, romance and some humour, Osthi Velan eventually fights Boxer Daniel in the climax, ripping his shirt showing his six-pack abs. All ends well with the success for Osthi Velan and he enters into wedlock with his beloved.
PERFORMANCE
Simbu has done the cop role and the story revolves around him. He sings, dances, fights and even emotes. Seeing him in khaki is a delight as he is stylish and elegant. He has provided a tremendous contribution to his acting.
Richa has given right expressions. She performs with energy and does remind one of Sonakshi, who did the same role in the original.
Sonu Sood does what he did in the original movie. He leaves his impression in the movie. He, unlike villains in other Tamil films, gets a major share on-screen and utilizes the opportunity well. He gyrates and speaks from the bottom of his belly at places.
Santhanam as usual leaves a mark with his dialogues. As a funny policeman, he speaks loud but attracts.
Jithan Ramesh shares the screen with STR for the first time. He has a part to play in the script which he does well.
Mallika Sherawat does an item appearance.
Gopinath’s camera captures the movie at a right pace.
Thaman’s tune has aptly blended with Vaali’s lyrics.
Dharani’s dialogues are crisp and Nellai Tamil fits the story well. Dharani has ensured that it is a racy commercial all through with no compromise
