Story: A supposedly scary tale, the story is set on the backdrop of City Hospital and this place sees a series of gruesome murders happening at the night. A young doctor Dr Suhani (sayali) begins to experience all this and she is not sure who or what is causing these killings. A top league investigative agency is roped in and its best officer Vijay (shiney) enters the scene. In no time, love develops between Suhani and Vijay but the killings don’t stop. Vijay takes this case very personally and decides to find out who is responsible. Is he successful in this or not forms the rest of the story. Presentation: The director has come up with an age old storyline and while the presentation was alright, the narrative was lacking depth. The dialogues were regular, the script was written with loose ends and screenplay was weak. Background score was good but songs were there for diversion. Cinematography was worthy. Editing was not upto the mark. Costumes were natural while the art department was suiting the moods. Shiney Ahuja has come back and he gives his best to infuse life into the character. Sayali Bhagat has got this strange sexuality about her and she does her bit as required. Julia has less to speak but her makeup was not that effective. Tej Sapru was neat, Deepraj Rana was alright. The others didn’t have much to offer. Conclusion: With the kind of technology and the excitement that audience has, the horror movies are expected to have many shock points and beat the bulbs out of the viewer. However, that doesn’t happen in this movie. While the first half goes about with the regular spooky happenings, the second half loses the steam. The key cause for that was the unwanted songs and the botched up romantic track. Of course, there are one or two good moments that give the jolt. Story: A remake tale, the story begins with a group of people- Charlie (abhishek), Ronnie (bobby), Spider (neil), Riya (bipasha), Bilal (sikander) and Sunny (omi vaidya). They are all talented and hatch a plan to rob a gold bullion from Russia. They are also successful in robbing the bullion but before they expect, a double crossing happens and they are betrayed. This gets the team to join hands with Naina (sonam) to locate the booty and also teach a lesson to the double crossers. Whether they are successful or not forms the rest of the story. Presentation:The directors have come up with a rehashed storyline and while the presentation was rich, the narrative was fast paced. The dialogues were charged up, the script was written with commercial value and screenplay was apt. Background score was good but songs were not upto the mark. Cinematography was top notch. Editing was regular. Costumes were trendy and stylish while the art department was suiting the moods. Abhishek Bachchan has come up with a different performance and makes his presence felt. Bipasha Basu looks super sexy and hot. Neil Nitin Mukesh was not that great. Bobby was not used to his potential. Sonam Kapoor was different. Sikander Kher was good. Omi Vaidya was apt. The others did their bit as required and added value. Conclusion:The film is the remake of the Hollywood hit The Italian Job but then it is better to stay away from the comparisons. As such, the film is quite rich in terms of the visual packaging and style but then it is the content and screenplay which hampers the momentum. While the first half goes about with the layering of the plot, the second half is about the various twists and turns. Moreover, the length is a bit on the higher side. If it was trimmed then it would have created an impact. Overall, this is a film which is a major visual feast but hollow in substance. At the box office, this could be an average grosser. But not before they have to come together and reunite as one. But all this takes nearly a decade and whether their love story is finally successful or not forms the rest of the story. Presentation:  The director has come up with a thought provoking storyline on paper and while the presentation was neat, the narrative was not that strong. The dialogues were sensible at places, the script was weak and the screenplay was total disappointment. Background score was good and almost all the songs were hummable. Cinematography was the highlight of the film. Editing was required at many places. Costumes were colorful while the art department was appealing. Shahid Kapoor gave his heart and soul for this role and he did whatever he could, so no complaints from his end. Sonam Kapoor was equally good and shows maturity in her performance. Supriya Pathak was superb. Anupam Kher was not used properly. Manoj Pahwa was marvelous. Aditi was apt. The others didn't get much scope. Conclusion: As the title indicates, the story passes through various seasons and various times. However, in all this, more than the journey of the lead pair, it is the time taken for their journey which wears out the audience. While the first half begins with interest, it starts losing the momentum after twenty minutes. Again it picks up during the second half but not before it falters and the climax was something bizarre. The major drawback of the film was the poor writing and it had very few chances of engaging stuff. At the box office, the film would have strong openings due to the hype but success chances are minimal.   Download this torrent

Ashish Khanna (Akshay Khanna) falls in love with Rani (Ayesh Takia) the first time he sees her at a cold drink stall. Story: A good tale presented poorly, the story begins with a young man (arjan) who is caught up between two ends. On one side, he has his mentor Jaswant (manoj) who has given him life and support. On the other end, it is his feelings for the pretty girl Anju (tia) who is actually an object of lust and desire for Jaswant. Though Anju starts feeling towards the protagonist, he is not able to reciprocate. However, a point comes when the hero has to take a call and what he does forms the rest of the story. Presentation:  The director has come up with an interesting storyline and while the presentation was appealing, the narrative was weak. The script was written weakly and the screenplay was not that gripping. Background score was not strong and only two songs were impressive. Cinematography was top notch. Editing was required during the second half. Costumes were natural and suited the moods while the art department was appealing. Manoj Bajpayee scores yet another convincing performance, he was excellent. Arjan Bajwa has an underplayed role and he is effective. Tia Bajpai looks sexy and attracts. Shweta Salve sizzles in item song. Yashpal Sharma was fabulous. Manish was not used properly. Yatin Karyekar was apt. Conclusion:  Given the title, one can easily connect to the holy epic of Ramayana and this is just a slice of bonding between a mentor and his protégé. While the first half goes about with the elements of romance and lust, the second half gets into the violent part. However, it must be said that there has been a lot of drag in many scenes and there are certain logical loopholes in the script. Overall, the film sustains due to certain good performances and some visual feast from the ladies. At the box office, success is doubtful. Download this torrent

Finally, there is Saira (aditi) a widow based in Lucknow who makes friendship with a rather soft spoken Iqbal. Apparently, all the three women are actually conned because Sunny, Deven, Iqbal are the same person Ricky Bahl (ranveer). The story takes a turn when the three women chance upon each other and decide to take revenge. In comes Ishika (anushka) and what happens from there forms the rest of the story. Presentation: The director has come up with an interesting storyline and while the presentation was appealing, the narrative was good in parts. The script was written well and the screenplay was alright. Background score was not strong and only two songs were impressive. Cinematography was top notch. Editing was required during the second half. Costumes were natural and suited the moods while the art department was appealing. Ranveer Singh comes up with yet another riveting performance and he scores. Equally good was Anushka and she was competent. Parineeti Chopra was pretty and made her presence felt. Dipannita was elegant, Aditi was apt. The others didn't have much to offer. Conclusion:  The film comes with an interesting take off and though it has a flavour of Hollywood flicks, some nativity is brought into it. While the first half goes smooth and has some good moments, it is the second half that goes bland until the climax. The technical and production values of the film are good but few scenes seem clichéd and dragged. Overall, this is a film which works at the start and the end while the middle portion is somewhat testing. At the box office, this could be an above average fare but not a great success. Story:  A good tale gone weak, the story is set on the backdrop of London and here live two friends Nick (john) and Jerry (akshay). Nick is a successful investment banker and also has a girlfriend Radhika (deepika). Jerry is busy living by Nick's money. Trouble comes when Nick gets fired from his job and to add to the woes, Jerry's nephew is assigned to him till he grows up and settles in a job. With no other choice, they decided to take up the daring route of male escort service. What starts as a pleasure job sure turns into a pain. What happens after that forms the rest of the story. Presentation: The director has come up with an entertaining storyline and while the presentation was good, the narrative was a letdown. The dialogues were good at places. The script was well written but the screenplay was weak. Background score was strong and two songs were impressive. Cinematography was appealing. Editing was a bit jerky, especially during the second half. Costumes were trendy and stylish while the art department was rich. Akshay Kumar comes up with a sincere performance and scores at many places. John Abraham was equally competent and unveils the performer in him. Deepika Padukone was good, Chitrangda looks stunningly hot but her characterisation was weak. Omi Vaidya was hilarious. Mohnish Behl was mediocre. Anupam Kher was apt. The child artist was cute. Conclusion: As such, one can see the traces of films like 'Deuce Bigalow- Male Gigolo' and 'The Full Monty' but the director has brought in enough nativity to suit the audience. While the first half goes off with rocking comedy and sets high expectations for the second half. However, post interval the entire track slides down and gets shockingly painful. The final nail is hit with the climax. Of course, there are those occasional good moments in the second half too. Overall, this is a film which takes off well but ends up crash-landing. Ranjit Rai (Sadashiv Amrapurkar) and his close friend Harbanslal (Dalip Tahil), are two wealthy men who want their children, Ajay (Ajay Devgn) and Madhu (Juhi Chawla) to marry each other. Unfortunately for them they are in love with less wealthy Kajal (played by Kajol) and Raja (Aamir Khan).

Each parent deceivingly get their children to sign a marriage certificate which declares them married to each other. Both the lovers refuse to back down, and their parents try everything to separate them. They eventually accept their choices and they prepare for the engagement. Unfortunately at the party, pictures are shown of Raja and Kajal acting very intimate with each other, because Raja saved her from a gang. It turns out that the whole thing was an act set up by Ajay and Madhu's parents. Raja and Kajal are willing to prove their innocence but Ranjit Rai and Harbanslal are determined to keep them away. Raja asks Kajal's uncle to tell Ajay and Madhu what happened but he will not tell and Ajay and Madhu throw Raja and Kajal out. Kajal was in severe depression and Ajay and Madhu thought she was pregnant with Raja's child because they saw them out of maternity hospital and when they told her congrats and told them about their wedding Kajal tried to kill her self, but Raja stopped her. Raja went to punish them both but the police came with along with Ajay and Madhu's parents. Raja is being beaten and Kajal goes to stop them and asks Madhu and Ajay's parents to stop and indeed they do, but with a price that when they let him go they can never come back to India ever again. Kajal says yes and Raja is out. Of course when hearing this, he refuses but Kajal changes his mind. Ajay and Madhu's marriage is starting when Ajay's uncle shuts the lights and shows pictures, which tells everybody what Ajay and Madhu's fathers really did and how Kajal was attacked and Raja had come to save her and when they brought in the uncle they told how he was paid and lied for the money. He also tells him how he ruined his friendship with Raja, and how he tried to tell what happened but he wouldn't listen. Ajay gets angry and tries to kill his father but remembers his promise to Raja and stops. He then tries to kill himself but Madhu and his uncle stop him. Ajay's uncle tells them how both of their fathers made them lose the love of their life. They decide to go apologize but Ajay's uncle tells them their leaving forever and must hurry to get there. They try to hurry when Raja and Kajal are boarding the ship. Ajay gets stopped by the crewmen. Eventually they let him go through and they finally get there in time. They see that Ajay is bloodied and they see him asking for forgiveness and Kajal comes running and hugs him. Raja also forgives him and Madhu also asks for forgiveness. They also forgive and the lovers are reunited. Ajay and Madhu's fathers stop the ship from leaving in order to ask forgiveness from their children. The children forgive their fathers when they realized that this time they truly have realized their mistake. At the end of the movie, the children get married to their lovers as they have planned from the beginning.

This is the story of “Bandra’s Beethoven”. That label, used by a glib manager (played by Mohan Kapoor) to hard-sell the hero of Neerav Ghosh’s Soundtrack, is bereft of irony or humour. It is meant to be sycophantic, glowing, earnest, ‘soul-soup’ inspirational—largely what the entire movie also is.

Raunak Kaul (Rajeev Khandelwal​) is a master turntablist who spins at a nightclub in what is implied as Bandra, the hip Mumbai suburb. One day he goes deaf. Does he plunge deeper into his cocaine-and-whiskey path towards perdition and hell? Or does he crawl back up to life and music? There’s that tantalizing promise—the promise of a man’s redemption after he has hit the abyss with drugs, bad decisions, being in love with the wrong person, and a sudden physical disability.

Director Neerav Ghosh mentions in the credits that the film is inspired by the motion picture It’s All Gone Pete Tong. But in fact, it is more than just an inspiration. Soundtrack has scenes which are exact replicas of the 2004 British production, written and directed by Michael Dowse. The true story of the original, that of a DJ at an Ibiza nightclub—somewhat of a legend in the Ibiza club scene then—and the sudden end of his raucous lifestyle, is not stuff of great tragedy. In Dowse’s movie, Frankie has no nuances, and is unintentionally comic in the way his life spirals down. British actor Paul Kaye adds to the part—a skinny man with a stupid laugh, corroded by drugs, who finally cleans up. There is a comic intensity to Frankie’s tragedy which makes the character bearable, although the film in its itself is quite charmless.

The writing of the Hindi remake adapts quite awkwardly to the Mumbai context. Raunak’s is not authentically a decadent ‘Charlie’ and ‘charas’ world. The director and cinematographer (Anshuman Mahaley) depends on neon hues, jagged camera angles and the music to create the drug-induced madness. The actor does not have to do a lot. The only nuance in Raunak, really, is his hallucinatory relationship with an unthreatening clown who goads him on to inebriation (in the original, it was a grizzly bear-like beast with dried cocaine stuck to its nose). There is also his past—a childhood without a father and the only child of a helpless mother, a trite Bollywood tool in this context.

The attempt to localize is of course intentional, and it is ultimately not the film’s undoing. The attempt to make Raunak’s story sentimental and inspirational, and to strip the character’s of all his foolishness and dumbness—even when he is wasted silly, Khandelwal lends Raunak a sense of importance and seriousness—is. It is a put-off, for this DJ is no tragic hero.

Raunak, a man of firm build and groomed hair, is the anti-thesis of a man swallowed by self-destructive madness. His physicality belies the rot inside. Khandelwal has performed with gusto and he makes some scenes extremely potent, but overall, he is sorely mismatched to this character. Soha Ali Khan​ plays a deaf girl who rescues Raunak from oblivion. She too, like Khandelwal, is inconsistent. In some scenes the character is strikingly original, and in some completely banal. Mohan Kapoor as the greedy, soulless manager, is the most convincing character here.

Soundtrack is a downer, but for a few powerful scenes—all of which are exact replicas from the movie it’s inspired from.

I will confess I am at a disadvantage here because I have watched It’s All Gone Pete Tong twice, quite by accident. And comparisons with the mediocre original is unavoidable. When it’s a remake or an “inspiration”, the task of making it better or to adapt it truthfully to its context is up for scrutiny. And I judge the film largely on those terms.

The star of Soundtrack is its music. Lyricists (Kailash Kher​, Majrooh Sultanpuri​, Karsh Kale​, Vishal Vaid, among others), music directors (Midival Punditz, Karsh Kale, Papon, Kailash Kher, Laxmilant Kudalkar) lift the trajectory of this self-aggrandizing hero by a few notches. The film is visually accomplished, if albeit too plastic at times, but the music and the cinematography momentarily achieves what neither the lead actors nor the writing can achieve.
