Story: A patriotic tale, the story begins in the year 1948 at the Nelakondapalli village in Adilabad district. Lakshmamma (sneha) leaves her daughter Mallamma (baby annie) in the river since the Razakars are out to kill them. Lakshmamma is killed and Mallamma is saved by a villager Sambayya. He is aware that Mallamma is the daughter of Rajanna (nagarjuna), a heroic freedom fighter who is a terror to the Doras. Meanwhile, Mallamma is a very good singer but her Dorasani (swetha menon) doesn't like that and keeps punishing her all the time. This pushes Mallamma to the limit and she leaves to Delhi to complaint with PM Jawaharlal Nehru. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.
Presentation:
The director has come up with an interesting storyline and while the presentation was rich, the narrative was engaging. The dialogues were charged up, the script was written with good research and the screenplay was apt. Background score was good and three songs were upto the mark. Cinematography was top notch. Editing was regular. Costumes were natural while the art department was suiting the moods. Nagarjuna has come up with an excellent performance and his physique looks good. Sneha was sensuous and did her bit as required. The real showstealer was baby Annie who has given a soul stirring performance. Swetha Menon made her presence felt, Pradeep Rawat was mean enough, Supreet was usual, Ajay was average, Alapati Lakshmi and Telangana Sakunthala made their presence felt. Ravi Kale was regular.
Conclusion:
The film happens to be a strong inspiration from the life of the noted freedom fighter Suddala Hanumanthu and the Razakar movement. However, enough precaution was taken not to rub anything controversial. While the first half goes about in a smooth fashion, the real bang comes before the interval. After that, the second half gets into some exciting action and some emotional turbulence. Overall, the film scores on the feel and presentation than anything else. At the box office, it has enough ingredients to score a hit
